Job Title: Labourer

Department: Project Execution or Equipment Yard

Reporting to: Site Supervisor

Job Purpose and Objectives

The Labourer is responsible for assisting in the timely and technical execution of Direct Pipe Installations, Microtunneling, Auger Boring, and other projects executed by Bothar. This role is part of the Project Execution team and either a project specific hire or deployed from our Calgary Yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with Site & Equipment setup

• Mix up slurry / lubrication Bentonite

• Monitor separation plant equipment and tank volumes

• Operate power / hand tools

• Pull and install tunneling utility lines (electrical cables, slurry lines, vitaulics etc)

• Rig, hoist, and direct lifting equipment

• Participate in daily site meetings, and shift crossover meetings

• Load and unload trucks

• Sign tools and materials out, and report to Inventory Coordinator or Foreman when supplies are low

• Maintain, clean, and refurbish equipment

• Participate in safety inspections

• Able to work in confined spaces

• Fill out required paperwork, such as Field Level Hazard Assessments

• Knowledge & ability to operate air compressor, pumps, arial lift, generators etc.

• Other general labourer duties as required on site or at the Yard

Physical Demand

• While performing the duties of this job, requirements include prolonged standing, walking and/or sitting.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Computer / control station work is required which will involve visual focus on screens and documents.

• Manual dexterity required to handle/feel objects, tools, and controls.

• Required to climb stairs and/or ladders, balance, stoop or kneel and/or walk on uneven ground.

• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

• Ability to hear equipment alarms, voices, radio transmissions, and other noises consistent with construction sites.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions, inside and outside.

• Capability to work in confined spaces is required

• Working day and night shifts including holidays

• Pass pre-employment physical

Qualifications

• Education – Grade 12 or GED Equivalent

• Experience – Experience in any construction environment, familiar with hand tools, health & safety practices.

• Experience in pipeline, direct pipe, or Microtunneling a strong asset

The following safety tickets are required: (Bothar may assist with any missing tickets required to be on-site)

• WHIMIS, First Aid, CSTS or PCST, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Fall Arrest / Fall Protection, H2S alive

Other Relevant Information

• This position is assigned to field locations during operations. Hours of work may vary, including night shifts based on project schedules.

• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

• Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol clearance is required

• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
